Types Of 254 SMO Nuts

1. UNS S31254 Hex Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Hex nuts are typical nuts with standard dimension. As name suggest, they are hexagonal in shape with threaded hole in the center. Bolt are threaded into hex nuts to form a strong joint. Also called as ASTM A182 Hex Nuts.
2. UNS S31254 Heavy Hex Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Heavy hex nuts are similar to standard hex nuts with addition in its thickness. They are primarily used for heavy applications with high strength bolts of larger diameters. Approximately thickness of 2.2 to 5 gets added to the threaded portion of nuts due to hot dip galvanizing process. 4. UNS S31254 Auto Lock Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 auto lock nuts are basically lock nuts which has higher resistance to vibrations and torque which prevents it from loosening. They are also known as Lock nuts, Self- Locking nuts, Self- lock nuts, prevailing torque nuts, stiff nuts, elastic stop nuts. Prevailing Torque nuts or Elastic Stop Nuts works on same mechanism where some portion or part of the nut deforms elastically which in turn provides with locking action and resist from loosening. They are generally used in application where vibrations and torque is common. Also called as ASTM A182 Auto Lock Nuts.
5. UNS S31254 Anco Style Lock Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Anco Lock nuts falls under the category of a self-locking nut. This style of locking nut comes with a ratchet pin that is usually made out of stainless steel. As the nut is spun on the bolt, the ratchet pin slides along the threads of bolt and prevents the nut from loosening or falling back. Additional benefit that Anco Style Locking Nuts offers is the ratchet pin can easily be bent to remove the nut without causing any kind of damage. Also called as ASTM A182 Style Lock nuts.
6. UNS S31254 Tri Lock Style Lock Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Tri-Lok Nuts falls under prevailing-torque mechanism category. This style of locknut is frictionally resistant towards rotation. 7. UNS S31254 2 Way Lock Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2 way lock nuts are also known as Centre Lock Nuts. These nuts are highly functional and adaptable due to their unique ability of used either top down or top up. They have indentations on the outer flats of nuts which cause distortion in the internal threads resulting in additional resistance towards loosening from the mating part. 8. UNS S31254 Keps Nuts– WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Keps Nuts are also known as Keps lock nuts or K lock nuts. 9. UNS S31254 Acorn Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Acorn Nuts as the name suggest are similar to hex nuts but with an addition of a dome or cap on the top and hence also know as dome nut or cap nut. The cap on the top of the nut has 2 primary functionality; one is to protect the inner thread of bolts from other surfaces or to protect other surfaces from the thread thereby reducing damage. They also add up to a much finished appearance. Hence also know as Crown Nut. Also called as ASTM A182 Acorn Nuts or ASTM A182 Crown Nuts.
10. UNS S31254 Castle Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Castle Nuts is very similar to Slotted nut but has additional rounded modification or turret shape on top. They have slots or notches which resembles like castle and are positioned on top of the nut. Castle nuts are also designed to be used with cotter, steel pins, split pins, taper pins, or wire to lock the nut. They are applicable in conditions where vibrations can cause nut to loosen. Also called as ASTM A182 Castle Nuts.
11. UNS S31254 Slotted Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Slotted Nuts is very similar to castle nut but do not have the rounded modification or turret  shape on top. Slotted nuts have slots but have flats sides which extend fully from top to bottom. Slotted nuts are also designed to be used with cotter, steel pins, split pins, taper pins, or wire to lock the nut. They are applicable in conditions where vibrations can cause nut to loosen. Also called as ASTM A182 Slotted nuts.
12. UNS S31254 Flex Lock Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Flex Lock Nuts is a typical hex shaped lock nut with a segmented collar on the top. The collar is segmented in opposed slots pattern which when spun on bolt tightly, the slotted portion on collar expands thereby creating a prevailing torque action and locking the nut tightly. Also called as ASTM A182 Flex Lock Nuts.
13. UNS S31254 Coupling Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Coupling nuts are similar to hex nuts but are longer in size. They are used to create a joint or extension between two threaded materials like rods, bolts, pipes etc. and hence are also called as Extension Nuts. Hex Coupler is threaded right handed. Sleeve Nuts are used if requirement demands left handed coupler is demanded. Also called as ASTM A182 Coupling Nuts.

16. UNS S31254 Tee Nuts – WNR 1.4574 Duplex 2205 Tee Nuts or Duplex 2205 T nuts  are nuts which are applicable on wood, composite or particle material. They are primarily used to obtain a flush surface. It consist of thin and long body with a flange at one end. This flange resembling like a t profile hence the name T nuts.. Since it leaves a flush or smooth surface it is also known as blind flange.
